v0.6.4 — Difficulty modes and region quests
A meatier update focused on structure and stakes: pick how dangerous your run is, chase region quests for extra power, and manage your active skills under pressure.
Highlights
Choose your difficulty
When you create a character you now pick a difficulty mode. Softcore plays it safe. On Mediumcore, dying wipes your gold, inventory, and equipment. On Hardcore, death is final and your save is sealed with a tombstone. On the tougher modes a death takes hold the instant it happens — even while your hero fights on offline — so there’s no undoing a fatal run.
Region quests
Every region now has its own completion quest in the camp, tracking your progress live as you unlock its tiles and clear its dungeon. Finish one and claim it for a skill point. They apply to characters you already have, so past progress counts toward them retroactively.
Also in this update
- An item’s required level is now worked out from its tier and the strength of its affixes, so higher-tier and skill-boosting gear asks a little more of you before you can wear it.
- Crowd control now cuts both ways: a stun interrupts your active-skill casts and blocks new ones, and a freeze slows your casting down.
- When you have two or more active skills enabled, a cast-priority strip in the skills sidebar lets you set their order with up and down buttons.
