v0.15.0 — The game now runs on a server
Your heroes now live on the server
- The game runs on a game server now, not in your browser tab. Your browser shows what the server does and sends your clicks; everything else — combat, loot, crafting, trading, the Trader’s stock — happens on the server.
- Close the tab and your hero keeps fighting, just as if the game stayed open, until its offline time is used up (8 hours, more with the bedroom upgrade). Then it rests until you come back. Opening the hero again refills its offline time.
The main menu
- Every hero shows live: level and progress, kills, where it is fighting, how much offline time it has left, potions, gear durability and free bag slots. Fighting heroes are green, idle heroes and heroes open in another tab yellow, resting or dead heroes red.
- Level-ups and finished timers pop up even while you’re in the menu, and as a desktop notification when the game’s tab is in the background (if you allow notifications when the game asks).
- The “Last save” line is gone: the server saves your heroes continuously.
Playing
- The game reconnects by itself if your connection drops or the server restarts for an update, and opens the hero you were playing again.
- One tab per hero: opening a hero in a second tab moves it there; the first tab returns to the menu.
- Swing and cast bars move smoothly between server updates.
- When a new version of the game goes live, your tab reloads into it by itself.
Your heroes and your account
- Nothing to do: sign in as before (email or guest). Every hero comes along; saves from older versions are updated automatically (a copy of the old save is kept).
- Achievements, settings and the leaderboard work as before; achievements are now checked by the server.
- The game needs an internet connection while you play, as before.
