v0.14.1 — Resonance ladder, new two-handers, gentler XP curve

Region Resonance: one shared ladder

  • Resonance I is free in every region once Theron falls. It is unlocked, not switched on; you pick it when you want it.
  • From Resonance I on, every region’s top combat tile sits at level 110, +10 per level up to 200 at Resonance X. The region’s other tiles keep their distance below the top one.
  • The same level means the same enemy in every region. Enemy resistances now follow only the enemy’s level, Echo Shard and Core drops follow the enemy’s level, and a dungeon’s first-clear reward gives the highest tier you can wear at its level (the same tiers as before).
  • Keys drop from special enemies on any Resonance tile at 1% per applied level (10% at Resonance X). The level-100 gate is gone.
  • Hunt marks and the Resonance achievements use the new levels. The hunt dispatch form remembers your last region and Resonance.
  • Your save: purchased Resonance levels are kept. The four farm regions are switched to Off once, and a scouting crew or a standing mark is moved to the new levels. The update prompt explains this.

New two-handed weapons

  • Four new weapon families, so the Berserker and the Monk find their class weapons as often as the Duelist does: Claymore (blades) and Halberd (axes) for the Berserker, Quarterstaff and Khakkhara (staves) for the Monk. They have the same damage per second as the other two-handers and come in five tiers (levels 12 / 30 / 50 / 70 / 90).
  • Weapons with a 3-second swing, and the Pavise, now read “Very Slow” on their item card.

Leveling

  • The XP curve is gentler between levels 26 and 89. A hero who clears every combat tile once and every dungeon once now ends each region at about the level of its dungeon. Levels 1–25 and 90–99 cost exactly what they did, so the step from 90 to 91 is now the wall into the endgame. Your level is kept.

Combat

  • Blocking needs a shield. With no shield in either hand your block chance is 0%, whatever gear, passives or buffs add. The exception is the Staves training bonus Parry: the staff then blocks like a shield. The block chance on Oak Touch and Pendant of the Sentinel now only works next to a shield (or Parry), and their item cards grey the line while you can’t block.
  • “+x to ” on gear now works even if you haven’t learned the skill’s parents or reached its level. The skill card shows it as learned. Spending your own points still needs both.

Interface

  • Many small confirm windows (new game over a slot, delete save, respec, Raise Resonance, drinks, hunt dispatch and recall, bedroom construction, trader buy and reroll, tracking the Brood Matriarch) are now clear dialogs with rows for cost, time and your gold, and a red warning where something can’t be undone.
  • The world map pans, zooms and draws its fog of war more smoothly.

Fixes and changes

  • Heroes who lost the Tavern to an old save-loading bug get it back, and a cleared but unclaimed “Cleansing the Swamp” can be claimed again.
  • Tracking the Brood Matriarch now takes 24 hours (was 6).
  • The Quarterstaff icons were redrawn so they no longer look like a Bo.
  • The old camp quest board, which had been switched off for a long time, was removed for good.
